The cases involve the implementation of the Solar Photovoltaic Hybrid System Integrated Project, which includes the supply and installation of solar hybrid systems in 369 rural Sarawak schools in 2016 and 2017.
Gerakan Belia Gagasan 1Malaysia (GBG1M) is contesting the civil forfeiture suit filed by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) against the youth organisation amounting to RM170,000 allegedly received from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
Yesterday’s proceedings took a dramatic turn when defence counsel Harvinderjit Singh became increasingly aggressive while questioning Yu, the AmBank relationship liaison manager, who is the 54th prosecution witness in the trial.
However, she was prevented from disclosing the details in court.
Justice Nazlan said this after agreeing with both the defence and the prosecution to submit on the issue, where Najib, on FB, defended his RM3.3 million credit card bill at a Swiss jeweller.
This means that the case will be heard on its assigned date of Aug 19, putting further pressure on the attorney-general to conclude the ongoing RM42 million SRC trial.
Former Yayasan Rakyat 1Malaysia (YR1M) chief executive officer (CEO) Ung Su Ling — the 49th prosecution witness— told the High Court here that she instructed the transfer of the funds from SRC’s unit Ihsan Perdana Sdn Bhd to Najib’s AmBank accounts in December 2014 and February 2015.
"One funder [for YR1M] was 1MDB. The second was companies within the Genting Group. We also received a small amount of money from Petronas — that was for very specific projects."
Two of the transactions included the descriptions for 'loan' purposes, Wedani said.
