This is following reports that the government has filed a forfeiture action seeking to freeze seven of Hock Peng's bank accounts and recover RM48 million which is believed to be from 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
The money that the government is seeking to freeze and recover is believed to be from 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).
This is for the seven criminal breach of trust and abuse of power charges against former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, in relation to the RM42 million SRC International Sdn Bhd’s money that was deposited into his accounts.
Justice Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali fixed 2pm on that day as the beginning of the hearing.
The seven-member bench also dismissed an oral application made by Najib's counsel Havinderjit Singh for a stay of the trial by the Federal Court.
Following the split up of his legal firm Hafarizam Wan & Aisha Mubarak, Aisha wants to discharge herself as guaranteeing for bail for Hafarizam.
It was reported that the AGC would file a certificate of urgency on its appeal against the stay that Najib obtained at the appellate court in February, pending the disposal of his appeal over the public prosecutor’s withdrawal of the certificate of transfer on seven charges related to the case.
Najib is appealing on four matters, namely wanting a gag order against the media from discussing his case, challenging the appointment of Sulaiman as a prosecutor, wanting more documents to the case and questioning the transfer of the case from the Sessions Court to the High Court following the withdrawal of the Section 418 Criminal Procedure Code certificate.
