KUALA LUMPUR (March 16): Sales of houses under the under the 1Malaysia People's Housing Programme (PR1MA) totalled 4,243 as at January, said Minister in Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.

In a written reply to Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Shabudin Yahaya, Shahidan said the number is expected to increase moving forward as more PR1MA projects are launched.

"To promote sales, PR1MA is having a few series of open day programmes nationwide. These programmes will provide one-stop centre services to potential buyers in facilitating them to buy PR1MA housing," Shahidan said.

Earlier this year, the government reduced the freeze on resale of PR1MA houses from 10 years to five years to make the projects more attractive.

In addition, the combined income eligibility to purchase PR1MA housing has also been increased to RM15,000 from RM10,000. — theedgemarkets.com
