MIRI (July 23): In Betong town, part of the Sri Aman Division in southern Sarawak, a block of double-storey shophouses is on fire. The town is located some 250km from the state capital Kuching. 

The fire was reported by The Star to have started at 9:50am, according to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department. 

In its latest update, The Star reports that Bomba Sarawak has tallied the number of shophouses burned at three. 

Firefighters are currently onsite, still battling the blaze.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
