MELAKA (July 27): The state government is currently reviewing the ‘Off River Storage’ in Alor Gajah, to ascertain that it fulfils the needs of the people, especially in Masjid Tanah. 

The project which costs RM300 million, was needed said Chief Minister Adly Zahari, as reported by Bernama. However, the Melaka government needed to re-evaluate the project to see if it meets requirements. A decision would be made this year, he said. 

On Monday, it was reported that water concessionaire Syarikat Air Melaka Bhd requested clarification on the status of the project.

The ORS would serve to reduce state’s dependency on raw water from Johor, as well as flood mitigation and water storage for droughts.
