KUALA LUMPUR (April 13): UK PM Boris Johnson (pictured) was discharged from a London hospital yesterday where he was treated for COVID-19, say reports.
He was admitted to St Thomas’ on April 5 after his condition worsened and was transferred the following day to its intensive care unit, where he received oxygen but was not put onto a ventilator, reported AP. He spent three nights there before moving back to a regular ward.
Describing the seriousness of his condition, the BBC reported Johnson saying that his condition while hospitalised “could have gone either way”.
He also praised the medical staff who took care of him, saying NHS (National Health Service) workers "kept putting themselves in harm's way, kept risking this deadly virus".
"It is thanks to that courage, that devotion, that duty and that love that our NHS has been unbeatable," he said. “I owe them my life”.
It was also reported that he will continue his recovery at Chequers, the prime minister’s country house, and will not return to work yet.
