KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 3): Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani (pictured) has been appointed to lead the party’s special task force on the Urban Renewal Bill.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the task force is responsible for reviewing and refining every aspect of the proposed bill before it is presented at the Urban Malay Convention at the end of September.

“The Urban Malay Convention will involve Umno’s top leadership from states and divisions across Malaysia, Malay political parties, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), academics and civil society.

“The resolutions from the convention will then be submitted to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Anwar said recently that the Urban Renewal Bill must be implemented to facilitate the construction of more comfortable housing projects for the well-being of the people.
