Eken Ng’s career in real estate began over 12 years ago with a humble RM100,000 apartment sale. At the time, he had no resources or team, and every client was a result of cold calling. That first transaction marked the true beginning of a journey that would take him from a solo agent to a leader of a team of more than 100 people, expanding into multiple new projects.
For Ng, the biggest breakthrough on his millionaire journey came when he transitioned from pure hustle to strategic leadership. After reaching his first RM500,000, he knew he had to change his approach.
“I knew very clearly my personal sales ability had its limits. The real breakthrough would only come from building systems and creating something that others could follow and duplicate,” he explained.
Ng spent three challenging years exploring new sales models and learning how to build and lead a team. This period was pivotal, as it taught him how to create SOPs and coach new agents, shifting his mindset from "I'm good at selling" to "I can lead others to sell well too."
Leadership isn’t about giving orders, it’s about leading by example.
That’s the principle I live by and demonstrate through my daily actions,” he shared. His leadership philosophy is built on the principle of leading by example. He made it a point to be the first one in the office, working side by side with his team.
In a competitive market, Ng’s brand stands out because he focuses on solving problems rather than just selling products. He believes that people choose to work with him because they win when they work together. His most challenging year was when advertising costs skyrocketed, forcing him to pivot from traditional ads to an education-based model. He led his team to shift their focus to creating value-driven content and developing their own personal brands.
Ng’s advice to younger agents is to avoid distractions and go deep.
“Those who truly 'make it big' are not the fastest movers, but the ones who go deep. Pick a lane. Study it. Master it,” he advised.
His definition of success has also evolved from chasing personal sales targets to helping others succeed. When asked about his sacrifices, he reflects on the profound transformation he sees in his team members.
“When I see the transformation in my team, the way they improve their lives. I know, deep down, every sacrifice was worth it, let more ordinary people change their destiny through real estate and become better versions of themselves" he stated as his ultimate legacy is to empower others.
