KUALA LUMPUR (May 1): Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) has achieved WELL Certification at the Platinum level for its office interiors, marking the largest project of its kind in Southeast Asia.
According to a press statement issued on Thursday, the certification was awarded by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI) under its internationally recognised WELL Standard.
The project was delivered in collaboration with PNB’s key sustainability partners, JLL Sustainability Consulting and Airscan Malaysia.
This interior certification complements the WELL Core Platinum Certification already achieved by Menara Merdeka 118, which houses PNB’s headquarters.
Menara Merdeka 118 is recognised as the tallest building in the world to receive WELL Core Certification at the Platinum level.
The WELL Standard utilises evidence-based strategies across 10 concepts, including air, water, nourishment, light, movement, thermal comfort, sound, materials, mind and community.
To achieve Platinum status, the highest level available, PNB underwent comprehensive documentation, independent on-site testing, and rigorous performance verification.
“Achieving WELL Platinum marks an important milestone in PNB’s journey to institutionalise health and wellbeing within our workplace strategy,” said PNB deputy president and group chief executive officer Datuk Rick Ramli in the statement
Meanwhile, IWBI senior vice-president and head of Asia-Pacific Jack Noonan said: “What PNB has achieved here is more than just a facilities milestone; it is a clear signal to the market that health is now a competitive differentiator”.
“By achieving the highest level of WELL Certification for the largest project of its kind in the region, PNB has rooted its organisational foundation in health and wellbeing as paramount for employees, with benefits to the bottom line at an incredible scale,” Noonan said.
