PETALING JAYA (May 7): UEM Sunrise Bhd has appointed Leong Jee Van (pictured) as chief property development officer (CPDO), effective May 18, as the developer strengthens execution across its core property development operations and strategic growth corridors.

In a statement today, UEM Sunrise managing director and chief executive officer (CEO) Shaharul Farez Hassan said Leong’s appointment would reinforce the group’s development focus and execution discipline.

“His extensive experience across the property value chain strengthens our leadership bench as we continue to sharpen our development focus and execution discipline.

“His appointment enhances execution within our Property Development pillar, while complementing the Company’s broader strategic priorities of building a balanced portfolio across development, property investment, and joint ventures,” said Farez.

Leong brings more than three decades of experience across the property and engineering sectors, with involvement spanning development planning, land acquisition, product strategy and project delivery.

In his new role as CPDO, he will oversee UEM Sunrise’s end-to-end development functions, with a focus on product quality enhancement, cost discipline and timely delivery across its development portfolio.

He will also support development execution across the company’s strategic growth corridors, including opportunities linked to the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone and other high-growth urban markets.

Prior to joining UEM Sunrise, Leong was with Tribeca Real Estate Management Sdn Bhd, where he led the development of Cedar Damansara, a low-density residential project in Bukit Damansara.

Earlier, he served as CEO of property development at Matrix Concepts Holdings Bhd, where he oversaw project delivery and established the Kuala Lumpur team to support the group’s expansion beyond Negeri Sembilan and Johor.

Leong has held senior roles in Tropicana Corp Bhd, Naim Holdings Bhd and Bandar Raya Developments Bhd, where he was involved in large-scale mixed developments, joint ventures and international projects.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and a Bachelor of Economics from Monash University, Melbourne.
