KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 22): Bon Estates Sdn Bhd has opened an approximately 40m-long two-way road linking Jalan Kiara 3 and Jalan Duta Kiara, providing an additional route towards Solaris Dutamas and surrounding areas.
The road, which has one lane in each direction and a pedestrian walkway, was developed by Bon Estates as a corporate social responsibility initiative at a cost of about RM3 million, said Bon Estates CEO Chan Jin-Wy during the opening ceremony on Tuesday (Sept 22).
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories) Hannah Yeoh officiated the event. Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Fadlun Mak Ujud was also present.
The project was first announced in 2023 following engagement with KL City Hall, the Mont Kiara Residents Association and other stakeholders, Chan said.
He said the connection was intended to improve accessibility in the Mont Kiara neighbourhood and extend the benefits of Bon Estates’ development beyond its project boundary.
According to Chan, the road provides pedestrians with a safer and more direct route and could also help emergency vehicles reach the area more quickly.
“Even though it’s just a road, it actually means a lot more to the neighbourhood and community,” he said.
Yeoh said the link gives residents another option for travelling towards Solaris Dutamas and nearby areas, where motorists previously had to take longer routes.
She said Mont Kiara, which has about 50 condominiums, had faced connectivity constraints and described the road as an example of cooperation among the government, developers and local residents.
“A developer does not operate separately from the neighbourhood in which it builds. Every new development brings people and activity into an area. Developers therefore have an important role to play in looking beyond their own project boundaries,” she said.
Yeoh added that public infrastructure delivery had to take budgetary constraints and competing priorities into account, while private-sector contributions could complement government efforts.
She also encouraged developers to incorporate green and recreational facilities within their projects, citing the park at the adjacent Bon Kiara development as an example of a space for walking and exercise.
The road opening comes ahead of the scheduled handover of Bon Kiara, Bon Estates’ second high-rise residential development in Mont Kiara.
The 410-unit condominium is fully sold and scheduled for handover in October, said the developer.
