KUCHING: The Housing Loan Division of the Federal Treasury is expected to adopt the e-Forms system fully by the middle of next year, thus speeding up and facilitating the process of applying for housing loans among civil servants.
Division secretary Datuk Shuib Md Yusop said the e-Forms system would be used nationwide beginning Jan 1, but borrowers were given a grace period of six months to familiarise themselves with the system.
"The e-Forms system will not only facilitate the borrowing process, in fact it is even faster where approvals can be made within approximately two hours compared with 14 days previously," he told reporters after the launching ceremony for the Housing Loan Division's e-Forms for the Sarawak state level, here on Thursday, Dec 2.
However, he said, although the application was made fully on-line, the borrowers were required to submit physical documents such as salary slip, employer's endorsement, sale and purchase agreement and other relevant documents required by the division.
He said loan approvals could be given within two hours, but payments to the developers and lawyers would only be made once the division had received the complete documents from the borrowers. — Bernama
