MAKING its eighth appearance on the The Edge Top Ten Property list and winning the inaugural The Edge-PEPS Value Creation Excellence Award 2010 for residential development, I&P Group Sdn Bhd is certainly a developer to be reckoned with.
“These awards definitely encourage us to strive for more,” said group managing director Datuk Jamaludin Osman.
A township developer, I&P’s history dates back to 1971 with the development of Bukit Damansara, which began its existence as a township of primary affordable housing for the growing urban population at that time.
Since then, the developer has developed a string of successful townships such as the RM3 billion Bandar Kinrara in Selangor, RM667 million Setiawangsa in Kuala Lumpur and RM1.4 billion Bayuemas in Klang.
This year alone, I&P already has several launches, raking in RM298 million so far and another estimated 21 launches planned before the end of the year.
Jamaludin said the key to the company’s success was an intimate understanding of the market through in-depth market studies followed by careful planning before execution.
One of I&P’s key goals as a developer is to create that “good feeling” with customers and that is achieved through strong capital appreciation and in the sustaining value of its products.
The company’s current landbank stands at over 5,000 acres, including a greenfield of about 400 acres in Klang and 333 acres in Johor. Planning is underway for the development of both tracts with launching expected next year.
“Even though there were a lot of challenges along the way, we are glad we managed to pull off a number of successful launches that brought in a positive amount of profit and revenue,” Jamaludin said, adding that he was confident that next year would show similar results, especially with the stream of launches in the works.
