KLANG (Dec 19): Almost all wholesalers of Pasar Besar Meru here have “suspended operations and are self-isolating” after several traders tested positive for Covid-19 infection, The Star reported today.

“From our initial understanding, a fishmonger who had the flu last week had gone for a check-up and was found to be Covid-19-positive.

“When the other traders learnt about this, some of them also got tested and were found to be positive,” Klang Meru Market Traders Association president Ng Soo Keong told the daily.

He revealed that “95% or 114 of the 120 traders at the wholesale section housed in Block C of the market complex” are not operating at the moment.

Meanwhile, Klang Municipal Councillor Ngian Yoke Mooi told the publication that operators at the wholesale section of Pasar Besar Meru were “worried after they came to know about the cases there”.

“I understand that some took the test but only a few tested positive. But when the other traders heard about this, they got worried and decided to stop trading from Wednesday,” she said.
